There are twelve species in the stork family. Storks are large birds. An adult bird is half a meter tall and has a wingspan of up to 2 meters. All storks are characterized by a long conical beak, long legs and neck.
Storks are widespread in different territories, on all continents of the planet. They live both in the tropics and in the temperate climate zone. Some species of storks, except those that live in places where winters are warm enough, lead a migratory lifestyle. For the winter, storks go to warmer lands - India and Africa.
Storks fly only during the daytime. The birds are able to choose optimal aerodynamic routes by flying over the areas that are conducive to soaring due to their air currents. Storks avoid flying over the sea. The life expectancy of a stork is about 20 years.
