Kansas City is a city in the United States, on the western border of Missouri, on the banks of the Missouri River. Population 488 943 people (2017).

Together with the city of the same name, Kansas, located on the other side of the Missouri, and a number of other settlements, it forms a conurbation of Kansas City with a population of about 2 million people. To distinguish it from Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri Kansas City uses the abbreviation KCMO.
