Puerto Vallarta is a seaside resort town and municipality in Mexico, part of the state of Jalisco. Located on the shores of the Bahia de Banderas bay. 

 

 

Population 255,725 people (2010). The city is home to the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Puerto Vallarta is named after Ignacio Vallarta, the former governor of the state of Jalisco. In Spain, the city is often referred to simply as Vallarta for short.
