Bosnia and Herzegovina is a state in the south-east of Europe, that is, in the Balkans. The country is slightly larger than Switzerland, and it has about half as many inhabitants. The name already shows that the country geographically consists of two parts. From the point of view of politics, it's even three parts.

The country has been independent since 1992. There are almost as many Bosnians living outside the country worldwide as there are in the country itself. In the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they say, has a small stretch of the Adriatic coast. The shore is so short that you can walk along it in an hour. The country consists of mountain ranges. But in the south you will also see flatter agricultural land.
