Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is located in the center of Asia. Only a small part belongs to Eastern Europe. Kazakhstan's neighbors are Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China. The capital is Nursultan.

There are many minerals in Kazakhstan, such as oil, natural gas, coal, iron ore, copper and gold. And there is also mining of other metals, such as lead or the heavy metal uranium. This is necessary for nuclear power plants or for weapons.

In Soviet times, nuclear weapons were tested in the east of Kazakhstan. Baikonur is a huge territory from which rockets are launched into space. Russia has leased this territory for space flight.
